Advice and Support

Helping to deliver a unique approach for refugees

Our project remains distinctive in providing a service that is proactive in seeking to find new arrivals, provide a welcome and introduction to Brushstrokes.

Immigration Advice

Brushstrokes is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Commissioner (OISC) and our registered Advisor, Salman Mirza,  can provide immigration advice and services up to level 3.

We hold a weekly Immigration advice clinic every Friday. Registration for the clinic is between 10.00am – 11.00am.
We will be unable to see people who come to the immigration clinic after 11.00 a.m. Our service is free and operates on a drop-in basis.

Advice can be given on a wider range of immigration issues.

Refugee Homelessness Prevention

Brushstrokes is helping to deliver a unique approach for refugees in Sandwell.
Working alongside Sandwell Council we are providing tailored support to help people manage the transition from asylum support to settled status as refugees.

Through outreach and office based work, everyone who receives a positive decision on their asylum claim while they are accommodated in Sandwell, is offered dedicated casework support. The service includes advice and support to address housing options, accessing benefits, advice on their education, employment and training options and provides ongoing resettlement support.

Anyone granted refugee status in the other areas where we are working, such as west Birmingham, can also receive assistance with resettlement from our advice team.

Migrant Health Workshops
We provide help to individuals to register with a GP and Dentist and deliver a range of health information and awareness sessions throughout the year.
We also provide information and advice on healthy living. This includes cookery lessons and information on healthy eating, exercise and self-care.
