Practical Help

We support families and individuals in Birmingham and the Black Country, especially asylum seekers and refugees with little or no access to public funding by providing practical resources of food, clothing and household essentials to people who are experiencing great need.

Our Bump Start packs contain essential items for new and expectant mothers, such as nappies, clothes, blankets, bottles, Moses baskets, baby wipes and toys. These are our most requested item and we are always in need of donations of items for newborns.

We also give out non-perishable food items, clothing, blankets and bedding, and other essential household items. The needs of the people we help change according to the time of year. We therefore appeal for seasonal items such as hats, scarves and gloves in autumn and winter.

How to get involved-

Donations can be brought to our centre from 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday, or you could volunteer to help with distribution.

Items can also be delivered to Father Hudson’s Care, St George’s House, Gerards Way, Coleshill, Birmingham B46 3FG. Items can be brought between 900am to 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am to 4.30pm on Friday.

We distribute donated items to benefit the asylum seekers, refugees and others in need who we support. Occasionally, if we have items which are unsuitable for distribution or we haven’t capacity to store them,  we either offer them to other charities supporting vulnerable groups, or sell them to raise valuable funds for our work.
