Our Mission

Brushstrokes exists to help people build secure, healthy and fulfilling lives. We work alongside new arrivals and settled communities to overcome barriers, develop strengths and create opportunities through advice, learning, community support and practical assistance.

Rooted in compassion, dignity and respect, we bring people together, strengthen belonging and empower individuals and families to move forward with confidence. We welcome people of all cultures, faiths, beliefs and backgrounds and are committed to creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Strategy
2026-2029

Our three-year strategy was shaped by the people who matter most: our service users, staff, volunteers, partners, funders and local communities. Together, they helped define a shared vision for Brushstrokes' future and the role we can play in creating stronger, more connected communities.

Over the next three years, we will strengthen our long-term sustainability, expand opportunities for community participation and ensure that our services continue to respond to changing local needs. We will build on our specialist expertise supporting new arrivals while widening access to many services for anyone experiencing hardship, isolation, poor health, housing insecurity or financial challenges. This reflects the strategy's ambition for Brushstrokes to become a trusted community hub supporting people from crisis to stability, isolation to belonging and dependence to independence.

By 2029, we aim to be a financially resilient, community-led organisation that empowers people to shape their own futures, strengthens partnerships across the region and helps create communities where everyone feels welcome, connected and valued.
